  1. excellent vid but i dont know why people dont just use …teamviewer .. as long as your desktop sharing is set up theres no need to do any thing as long as both pc's have teamviewer installed it just works on just about any os to os without all the ip address stuff, you dont need to do any router stuff either, it just works and you can even put it on your smart phone, but dont pay for the app on phone, down load it and chose …for personal use on pc or phone,i use it to check out what my cctv is seeing off my desk top from my phone, no need for ip camera then… easy

  2. Got a little issue this is what I get when connecting from my Win 10 to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS ( is it supported ? )

connecting to sesman ip 127.0.0.1 port 3350
seasman connect ok/'sending login info to session manager, pleae wait…/'xrdp_m_process_login_response: login sucessfull for display started connecting
    connecting to 127.0.0.1 5910
    tcp connected
    security levelis 2 ( 1= none, 2 = stndard )
    error – problem connecting

  3. With Ubuntu 16.04 (on a Raspberry PI) , the .xsession file does not need to be created because login won't work. I deleted the file and then I was able login.

  4. Awesome, up and running with this tutorial with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 14.04..!! Will this work to connect only locally or also for when you are on a different internet IP?

  5. Hey thanks a lot! I just used this tutorial with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 15.Almost no differences. MATE did not require the last command you used to install but worked perfect. Also it made me keep the -1 at the end but still stayed in the same session. It would not connect when I matched port numbers.

  6. Doesn't work I even SSH into my Ubuntu 14.04 and did all the same steps still get a brown mesh pattern screen. I did these steps

    sudo apt-get install xrdp
    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/ppa
    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/trusty-mate
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-mate-core ubuntu-mate-desktop

    echo mate-session >~/.xsession
    sudo service xrdp restart

  7. For those of you with more Linux experience, all you have to do via ssh (I use putty)…

    sudo apt-get install xrdp
    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/ppa
    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/trusty-mate
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-mate-core ubuntu-mate-desktop

    echo mate-session >~/.xsession
    sudo service xrdp restart
